V.P.Singh is dead

The one man responsible for bringing caste-based politics into full-swing in the country died yesterday, almost without a whimper. This took a long time coming but it has finally happened. And, while one feels rage and pain on what is happening in Bombay even now, one feels gratified that this man died without the country even noticing.

V.P.Singh will forever be associated with bloody memories. One he caused by releasing the Mandal Commission Report, back in the 80s. There was a nationwide protest and a lot of bloodshed. And now, on the day he died, the country was grappling with one of the worst terrorist attacks against its crown jewel, Mumbai. Fitting perhaps.
